Affenkäfig Festival 2025 transformed the Mendig airfield into a three-day celebration of electronic sound and light. With Mark Dekoda, Felix Kröcher, and one hundred more acts performing across four custom stages, the event demanded a coherent and perfectly balanced audio setup.
To achieve this, EVT Media relied entirely on RCF / TT+ Audio technology for all sound reinforcement across the site. Supported by RCF Germany’s Phil Scholz, who supervised system alignment and performance throughout the festival, the team ensured that each stage delivered maximum sonic impact with minimal overlap.
“The Main Stage was equipped with [24] TT+ Audio GTX 10 and [18] TT+ Audio GTS 29 subwoofers, including eight flown units, ensuring uniform sound coverage over 55 meters without delay towers. The system design effectively minimized reflections from the hangar walls and allowed easy adaptation when the hangar doors were open,” Scholz explains. XPS 16K amplifiers powered all TT+ Audio modules.
The Hangar Stage featured [12] TTL 55-A line array modules paired with [10] new RCF SUB 9029-A units — the latest active dual 19-inch subwoofer recently introduced and derived from the GTS 29.  “Its compact footprint, precise low-end definition, and impressive headroom make it ideal for spaces where the coverage needs control and accuracy” Scholz continues.
Meanwhile, the Black Leaf Floor and Hardcore Bunker featured [8] TTL 55-A and [2] NXW 44-A systems paired with SUB 9007-A subwoofers, ensuring a consistent tonal character and precise control across all environments.
“The biggest challenge was keeping the stages acoustically isolated while maintaining a powerful, even listening experience everywhere,” Scholz notes. “Through detailed tuning via RDNet and RCF’s precision array directivity control, the system achieved exceptional clarity and coverage consistency.”
Niklas Butzen, Technical Director of EVT Media, adds: “We are delighted to have supported the Affenkäfig Festival for several years now — providing sound, lighting, staging, and effects. This year, we raised the quality bar even higher with the use of TT+ Audio on the Main Stage.”
