Seamless Sound Across Theater, Concert, and Cinema: RCF at POU Ogulin, Croatia

Ogulin, Croatia - The Public Open University Ogulin, a public institution founded in 1958, has long been a vital hub for artistic, educational, informational, and service activities. Today, it stands as a key epicenter for lifelong learning, offering a range of academic and cultural programs for the citizens of Ogulin and its surrounding areas. As part of a major reconstruction project, the new Golden Hall was designed as a multifunctional venue, capable of hosting theater performances, concerts, and cinema screenings. To achieve seamless adaptability between these formats, a comprehensive audio solution from RCF was implemented, ensuring a high-quality sound experience across all applications. The implementation of RCF was carried out by our distributor in Croatia, LAV Projekt.

At the heart of the main sound system is an RCF line array solution composed of eight HDL 26-A active line array modules, arranged in two flown clusters of four units each, positioned to the left and right of the stage. An additional array of four HDL 26-A modules is installed behind the cinema screen for optimal audio coverage during film screenings. The system is reinforced by two powerful RCF SUB 9006-AS active subwoofers, each equipped with dual 18” woofers, delivering up to 3600 W RMS and 142 dB SPL, providing exceptional low-frequency performance. For supplementary coverage, the stage is equipped with RCF NX 32-A digital active speakers located behind the backdrop, while RCF ART 932-A active monitors serve as floor monitors during live concerts.

To ensure complete control and monitoring of the sound system, the installation includes the RCF RDNet Control 2 master unit, which allows for remote management of the HDL and SUB systems via RDNet. For portable applications and external events, a compact solution is provided by the RCF EVOX JMIX8, featuring an integrated 8-channel digital mixer. Paired with the RCF EVOX J8, it forms a portable yet powerful stereo system.

In the cinema configuration, RCF’s robust amplification technology powers the installed cinema surround sound system. Sixteen speakers are driven by four RCF IPS 2.5K H-class amplifiers, each providing 2 × 1250 W RMS output, ensuring immersive and dynamic surround sound during movie screenings.

With the implementation of these advanced RCF systems, Public Open University Ogulin is now equipped with an audio infrastructure that supports its multifunctional hall with professional-grade clarity, flexibility, and reliability, enabling the venue to elevate its diverse cultural and educational programs for years to come.
