Inside the RCF Installation at the Red Star Museum
Sfântu Gheorghe, Romania—FBS Lines designed, supplied, and installed an RCF audio system for the Red Star Museum, also known as the Museum of Communism. The project brings together 139 loudspeakers across 10 models, with equipment selected through early collaboration between FBS Lines and the project’s designers.
Under the patronage of Sfântu Gheorghe City Hall, the museum documents Romania’s communist era from 1945 to 1989. Artifacts, photographs, and projections trace more than four decades of history, presenting a record of the period and encouraging reflection on its consequences.
For many visitors, this history falls within their own lifetime. The exhibitions therefore connect historical documentation with personal memory, giving the museum a particular significance for those who experienced the events it depicts. Its purpose extends beyond preserving objects to reminding visitors of the need to avoid repeating past mistakes.
FBS Lines took a threefold role as designer, supplier, and installer. Working with the designers from the initial phase gave the company an opportunity to consider technical choices alongside the museum’s wider objectives and maintain continuity through equipment supply and installation.
“Every room presented a different challenge, and that’s where the extensive RCF catalog really helped us.” said Kalman Bako, owner of FBS Lines. “We could choose products suited to each room’s needs, with the quality we wanted throughout the installation, from horns that recall old broadcasts to high-powered, ground-shaking subwoofers. Taking the project from design through supply and installation made it especially rewarding to see those choices come together. RCF Italy shared our enthusiasm and helped us bring the KPS series into the project right from its market launch.”
