RCF’s Audio Integration at Arena Katowice

Katowice, Poland - Arena Katowice, inaugurated on March 30, 2025, stands as a premier sports and cultural venue in Poland, accommodating 15,048 spectators. Located adjacent to the A4 motorway in the Załęska Hałda district, the complex includes a sports and entertainment hall with a 3,000-seat capacity, two heated training pitches, and a 500-space parking area. The facility serves as the new home for GKS Katowice, transitioning from their historic Bukowa Street stadium to Nowa Bukowa Street, with plans to name the venue after club legend Jan Furtok, who passed away in November 2024.

The opening match featured GKS Katowice against Górnik Zabrze, drawing a full house. Post-match celebrations included music performances by Janusz Maleńczuk (vocals), Piotr Mincewicz (guitar), Arian Litewka (drums), and the Need For Strings duo with an impressive pyrotechnics show, directed by Marcin Makarski, owner of the I am music company - also responsible for providing the technical infrastructure.

To complement its modern architecture, Arena Katowice required an advanced sound system to ensure high-quality audio coverage for both sports and cultural events. TOMMEX, the official distributor for RCF Install products in Poland, was responsible for the design, commissioning, system tuning, and user training of the electro-acoustic system covering both the football stadium and the adjacent sports hall.

The stadium’s sound system features RCF P 6215 two-way loudspeakers for the stands and P 3115T models for the pitch, both designed for high output and weather resistance. In the sports hall, RCF S 15 subwoofers and COMPACT M12 two-way loudspeakers provide comprehensive audio coverage.

The infrastructure of the system is based on three rack cabinets, which contain APEX CP 3004 DAN and RCF QPS 6.0K power amplifiers, as well as LAN network devices responsible for managing the entire installation and transmitting audio signals using the Audio Dante protocol. One of the cabinets also integrates a Yamaha MRX-7D matrix , which manages the operation of the amplifiers.
